What age can kids start learning Muay Thai? Can a 4-year-old join?
Yes. Our Early Years Muay Thai Starter Class accepts children from age 4. Ages 4–7 use games to build basic movement, balance, coordination and classroom etiquette; ages 8–12 move into our systematic Kids' Muay Thai Class, formally learning punches, kicks, knees and elbows and taking part in grading assessments. Actual placement depends on the child's focus and coordination — your coach will advise after the trial class.
Could my child get hurt learning Muay Thai? Is it safe?
Kids' Muay Thai classes do not include full-contact free sparring. All training takes place on professional cushioned flooring in our 5,800 sq ft facility under full coach supervision, with small class sizes ensuring enough attention for everyone. Students are grouped by age and level to avoid size mismatches, and every class includes a standard warm-up and stretching routine.
Will learning Muay Thai make my child more violent?
Quite the opposite. Muay Thai places huge emphasis on respecting one's teachers, with Wai Kru etiquette practised in every class. The teaching focus is discipline, self-control and respect — students must learn "when not to use force". Years of parent feedback show clear improvement in emotional regulation and self-control.
Can I learn Muay Thai with zero fitness background?
Absolutely. Over half of our adult students had zero athletic background when they signed up. Beginner classes start from the most basic stance and footwork, and coaches adjust intensity to your fitness level — you won't be expected to keep up with others. We recommend starting with a trial class to experience the pace firsthand.
Is 30 or 40 too old to start Muay Thai?
Not at all. Training intensity can be fully adjusted to your fitness level, and we have many students in their 40s and even 50s. Older students often bring sharper focus and pick up technique faster. The key is a gradual pace and a thorough warm-up.
How are class fees calculated? Are there hidden costs?
We follow a policy of fully transparent pricing — every class fee, package and monthly rate is published in full, with no hidden costs and no hard-selling of long-term contracts. See the Class Fees section above or WhatsApp us for details.
What do I need to prepare for my first trial class?
Almost nothing. Just wear sportswear and athletic shorts, and bring your own towel and water. Gloves and other protective gear can be borrowed from the school. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early to register and meet your coach.
Will women get bulky from Muay Thai?
No. Muay Thai is primarily high-intensity interval training combined with core and cardio work, resulting in reduced body fat and a more toned physique rather than significant muscle bulk. Most of our female students report a leaner, more toned body shape.
How many calories does a Muay Thai class burn?
A 60-minute class combining skipping, pad work, combinations and conditioning is high-intensity interval training, typically burning more calories than an equivalent jog and producing a post-exercise afterburn effect. Combined with a sensible diet, most students see noticeable changes in body fat and shape within one to three months.
What does international certification actually mean?
We are the first Muay Thai school in Hong Kong to be certified by both the I-1 World Muaythai Fighting Championship and the WPMTA. This means our curriculum meets international standards, our coaches hold internationally recognised teaching and judging qualifications, and student certificates and grading ranks are recognised within the international system — with pathways extending to a coaching certificate or international competition.
How does the Muay Thai grading certification system work?
This is our exclusively designed grading assessment system. Each level has clear technical requirements, and passing the assessment earns a dedicated certificate and belt. The system gives students — especially children — a clear view of their progress, with a tangible sense of achievement at every stage, which is a key motivator for continued training.
Where exactly is the school in Tsuen Wan? Is it easy to reach?
We're in the heart of Tsuen Wan, within walking distance of both Tsuen Wan West and Tsuen Wan MTR stations, and convenient for residents around Yeung Uk Road, Lipp Fong and Tai Wo Hau. Students from Kwai Chung, the Kwai Tsing district, Tsing Yi and Sham Tseng can also reach us with a short trip. See Contact Us for details.
Can parents watch their child's class?
Yes. Our 5,800 sq ft facility has a dedicated parents' waiting area where you can watch the entire class. We encourage parents to stay informed about what's being taught, but we recommend not giving real-time instructions during class so children can focus fully on their coach.
What's the difference between Muay Thai, boxing and taekwondo?
Known as the "Art of Eight Limbs", Muay Thai uses eight striking points across punches, kicks, knees and elbows, plus clinch work and throws, giving it the widest range of attacks. Boxing uses only the fists; taekwondo focuses mainly on kicks and points scoring. For practical self-defence, Muay Thai's close-range knee, elbow and clinch techniques are especially effective.
Do you offer private one-on-one Muay Thai coaching?
Yes. We offer one-on-one and semi-private (two students) private Muay Thai coaching, ideal for students who want faster progress, need flexible scheduling, or aren't comfortable in a group class setting. Your coach designs a plan tailored to your goals — fat loss, competition, self-defence or technique refinement.
Can this count as a school extracurricular activity?
Yes. We are an affiliated member of the Hong Kong, China Muay Thai Council, and our internationally recognised grading certification system means certificates earned can serve as proof of extracurricular participation and skill. Contact us if you need supporting documents.
